Netbook Reflection

There are many reasons why having a netbook is good, like having easier access to google docs and sharing important docs to others. The best thing is that you can also create forms and email to your class and other people. Email is awesome for chatting to others and emailing talks, you can also attach photos to an email that your sending someone.

As much as I have loved having a Netbook there are some things that I haven’t liked, like not having my netbook when it was broken. Then once I turned it on and it wouldn’t bring up the log in screen. Internet connection taking to long to load, the mouse freezes. Folders getting lost.

The hardest thing for me is being in the right place for the right information. So I don’t collect the wrong information from the wrong place.

If the Netbook Scheme failed and we had to go back to pencil and paper that would so boring because when we have a task and we have to collect information we would have to go one by one on the multimedia machines to find information.

Awesome Tennis

“Line up room 20, were going to teneis”. Said my teacher Mrs Nua as we were getting ready to go to Tennis. “ I’m so excited about teneis”. I said to my friend Jane. She wasn’t so sure if she wanted to play, she was a bit scared.

As we went to the court yard there was another class that had just finished tennis. He introduced himself. We got on with learning the first thing, how to hold a racket the proper way. You had to put the racket on the ground and you put your hand on the top of the racket and make sure your thumb is on the top. That was easy. The next thing we learnt was bouncing the ball on the racket, that was kind of easy but lots of us couldn’t do it, it was like raining balls.

“STOP”!!! Said our coach. I was hoping that we would be playing the actual game of tennis but I was wrong. We were now on to another activity were we had to partner up in groups of twos.
One of us had to hold the racket which was me, and Jane ( my partner ) had to throw the ball to the ground and it would bounce to me and I had to hit it back to Jane. The first few times I couldn’t do it. But we did it once.

When we had finished our little activity our coach put us into groups of six to get ready to play a game of kings and Queens of the court. This is how the game goes: One person from the group has to stand on the other side of the net, the rest stay where there are. The group lines up and one person hits the ball to the other side if that goes out the person who hit goes to the back, but if the other person hits it back and it goes out they lose and they come and line up and the winner goes. So on and on.

I had so much fun learning to play tennis and I
hope I learn some more tricks and games.

Badminton lessons

Today we had badminton. At first when I heard that we were doing badminton I didn’t know what  it was. As soon as we got to the hall we were told what badminton was. It was a sport where you have a shuttle and a racket and you need a partner to compete against, then you hit it to your partner and try not to let it hit the ground or go out anywhere else. It’s a bit like tennis.

The first thing we got on with were learning the basic skills about badminton. The first skill we learnt was how to hold the racket. Put the racket in your hand and make sure you hold it the right way. When you hold the shuttle, make sure you have the round bit at the bottom and the open bit at the top. So then you hit to your partner.

We then had a warm up exercise. We had to partner up with a buddy and get a shuttle and our partner had to hit to us and we had to put the racket in between our legs and hit it the shuttle to our partner, they had to do the same thing. It was quiet fun doing it but it was really hard.

Our skills were put to a game of badminton. It was really simple and easy. I was really exited about playing the actual game. I got a few hits, and I was really happy.

Badminton was really fun and it was really fun learning
all the skills. Next time we play Badminton I hope pick up some more skills on the way

Character description My brother

This week we were learning how to describe a person in our writing and we had to choose a person in our family to describe, I chose my little brother Adam.

My little brother Adam, he has brownish hair and really dark brown
eyes that really like to stare. Fat cheeks that always get squeezed by my mum. He was born in New Zealand.

His favourite things are playing a lot. He love’s the colour yellow that he wants everything yellow, he doesn’t like talking at all that much he’s just into playing games, whenever we go somewhere he smiles at people that he doesn’t even know.

Fun day

“Yeah”. I said. As Mrs Nua told Room 20 that we were going to have a silly games day. We were going to play some silly games along with three other classes. We headed to the field and it was really muddy and I really didn’t want to play in the mud. Our first game was with our teacher Mrs Nua. We were put into four groups and then got started.

Mrs Nua explained to us how the game goes. Each group had a bucket with water in it a sponge and another bucket at the end of each group. What we had to do was the person in front had to put the sponge in the water and pass it to the person behind them around and that person had to pass under and so on, then the last person would run to the bucket away from them and squeeze the watery sponge. The group that can fill the bucket as much as they can are the winners.

When we finished the game we got on with the next game. This game included a slingshot and some balls. We had to put the ball into the slingshot and shoot it into one of the hoops on the field. It was quite a fun game for me, I did my best I could and I nearly got a shot but it went out.

The next game we did was a bit hard and really funny. We had to partner up with a buddy, stand together side by side, each of has to put (one leg ) together and tie a string around it. Then one of us hold a spoon with a ball on it, we race to the finish line with out falling down then race back to the start. This was a really hard game for but also was really funny.

Once this silly games session was over we were all tired. I had a great time playing all those fun activity’s and I hope we do this kind of thing again.

Fatu Feu'u art project

Every Wednesdays Miss M comes and does art with us. This term we are learning about two famous artists called Fatu Feu’u who is Samoan and Phillip Clairmont. We have been researching about their art and how they inspire other people. Room 20 have also been sketching some designs with Mrs M in the style of Fatu Feu’u , and we have practicing sketching the scared couch by Phillip Clairmont.

We were given a paper and there were four squares on the paper and we had to draw four designs in the style of Fatu Feu’u. Out of all the four designs we had to choose one pattern and draw it bigger, some of us just four designs and got it laminated. Once they were laminated we used wood cut knifes to cut out little pieces, then we stuck them on to canvas.

It was finally time to roll paint our designs and some of us were helping Miss M with roll paint and spray paint ,I was helping with sticking the designs on to the canvas. Mrs M called us outside to show us an example, she was rolling it first then she thought of spraying it over ,she sprayed it over with the colour green. Once it was finished it really looked nice and colourful, it also stood out.

How computers got popular?

Computers have been so popular since 1975 till now.Did you know that early computers were people, will if you don’t now’s your time to find out.Early days computer was a originally a job tittle for women when they were working. In the early days women were always busy counting and doing a lot of mathematics and it was a very monotonous job.

At first people used their fingers for maths which explains why our number system is based on ten, some people used to scratch marks on trees to remember. Traders exchanged small pebbles to help them count the thing s they were trading. Then the abacus came out and it was used for counting and remembering the amount, the abacus was used for centuries.

Computers are now so popular around the whole world that it keeps making me wonder why are they so popular? I found out they are so popular because you can email or video chat your friends even if they are over seas. You can talk to family that are far away from you on skype. Computers are also popular because they also can help you learn, if you are doing a presentation on something you could always go to the Internet to find some information

Netball

“Yeah” I said. Room 20 were finally having some time out on our work and going outside and having a bit of p.e (netball). When we got a bit closer I noticed a lady standing there with a bag of balls. We then sat down and the lady introduced herself to us and her name was Emma our netball coach. Emma was here to teach us netball skills and how to play netball the proper way.

The first thing we were taught was throwing the ball properly. The first skill Emma told us was to hold the ball in a ‘W’ way and it didn’t matter if your fingers were touching or not touching, she also told us to make sure the was ball thrown from your chest long and strong.

Our final session was playing a game of netball!!! We were spilt into two teams. Half wore bibs and the other half didn’t. I was in the one that didn’t wear bibs. Finally the time came where we put our skills to the test and started our game. It was fun running around and trying to shoot the ball in the hoop. Our team got a few goals but I didn’t quite figure out who won.

I had so much fun learning how to play netball and I hope Emma will teach us some more skills and new games to play.

My creative name

Last week we went to our immersion class and my second class was room 22 ,Ms Tito. We were learning about creativity . We were told by Ms Tito to create our names and get images from the Internet and that was to be finished in a few minutes . As you can see my work above.

A stinging injection

“Excuse me Mrs Clarke ,may I please have Jane and Hajira”. Said Shaniah coming in to our maths class .I was wondering why Shaniah came for us. We saw a group of girls heading for the hall and we were following them. I suddenly remembered that we had a HPV injection.”OOOOHHH NOO”!!! I said with a groan.

As we went inside the hall fuaya we sat down waiting to go for our HPV injection . Our names were called out and we were given our forms . A lady called us and one by one went in to get their injection .My turn came and I was very scared because I didn’t like injections.

I sat down and the lady asked a me few questions while she was getting the needle ready. The time came and I was shaking like a drill .When she put the needle in my left arm it felt like a bee stinging me and I was about to let a scream out but I didn't.Suddenly a funny feeling went through my body and it felt very strange .

When the injection went out of my shoulder it really hurt that I couldn't lift my hand up. The lady told me that it would only hurt for one day. I went and sat down with the other girls where there was a movie on .All the girls were groaning about the pain and some girls were saying that ‘It felt nice I want to do it again’.

A lady called us for our times and checked it and we went back to our class. I was so glad that it was finally over .

Devastating disaster

Yesterday at 3pm a tornado hit Auckland Albany North Shore unexpectedly .This was a terrifying site for the people of North Shore as the mean beast sucked up roofs of houses and uplifted vehicles. If you are wondering what it would feel like to be in a tornado ….well it’s not nice.

The awesome picnic!!!

Brrring!!!! The bell went and we all rushed to line up to go to assembly for our picnic at Pt England reserve. Mr Burt gave us instructions on what to do when we got there , suddenly Mr Burt ,Mrs Jarman and Mr Jacobson started whispering. I was worried that the picnic would be canceled because of the weather but they weren’t talking about that .Mr Burt then told us that the toilets down at the reserve ,there was something wrong with them so he had to order some portable toilets .

FINALLY we arrived at PT England reserve and we found a nice place under the tree to put our bags . Jane and I were then gossiping , I got bored of sitting and talking there so me and Jane then went to get the Frisbee of my brother . “Your throwing it the wrong the way“ said Jane with laughter “NO you are “ I said . Both of us were having difficulties throwing the Frisbee
but we were also having so much fun.

“I’m hungry ,lets go have some morning tea “ said Jane .We were really hungry so we went to get something to eat. We went to the beach and I couldn't’t believe that Jane was scared of going down to the beach but then I forced her to come down.Lots of people were looking for crabs and I saw my brother playing in the water with his friends and his pants covered with mud and wet .”Oh no .What have you done “ I said to my brother .

After a while I went to the park and I was sitting on the edge of the park when Mrs George asked me if I wanted to take pictures for picnic movie.I said yes . She gave me her camera and of I went on my mission to take pictures . “Ooh take a picture of me. No me” said the children. I just ignored them and kept climbing the playground up to the really top. As I stood up the amount of children I saw was unbelievable. I took so many photos and I had so much fun too.

After a long and tiring day at the beach we went to school so stressed and my legs aching .
I had so much fun at the picnic and this was my last picnic at Pt England school.

MY NEW AWESOME NETBOOK!!!!

Yeah!!! Our net books have finally arrived and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. On the first day of school we were the first and ONLY class in the whole school to get our net books !!! It was so amazing how they worked but sometimes, something would go wrong with the Internet and that would make me feel frustrated.

The most coolest thing about it is chatting and emailing . I have learnt a lot about my net book and next term I hope we get to take them home because that would really be cool.

'Oh no I'm late'! I said to myself as I got out of the car in a hurry.I ran to class but as I got closer the gate of the classroom was closed. I was wondering where they went to. I was trying to remember ‘oh that’s right’ I said . I suddenly remembered that there was technology and I was really late .I was running quickly , trying to catch my breath .

As I approached the gate I saw lots of kids from our school .I was trying to find my graphic teacher Mrs Ferguson who was going to be my teacher again!!! As we walked inside the classroom the sun was shinning in really brightly and it was so hot. Mrs Ferguson was telling us about what sort of drawing we were going to do . We got started with drawing our designs for our box’s.

I was having lots of fun catting but I didn’t have fun drawing because I was not a good drawer and I don’t like drawing . We finished our box’s and we were on our way back to school.

Best brithday EVER!!!

Remove Formatting from selection
‘Happy birthday Hajira’, shouted my brothers when I was asleep in my cozy bed. I got up and said ‘,it’s not my birthday today ! Oh yeah, well come and check the calendar ‘ said my brother. I saw the calendar and asked my dad ‘What’s the date today . It’s the 1st of January’ said my dad .’WHAT!’ I said with a shout . I didn’t even know that it was my birthday.

Everybody was getting the party ready. Then me and dad went shopping at Sylvia park and bought lots of stuff . We went home then and blew balloons . My little brother was so hungry for the cake .He just loves eating cake.

So the party began . I had so much fun opening presents up, eating and playing . At the end of the day we were all tired so we watched a nice movie with some snacks.
