Awesome Tennis
“Line up room 20, were going to teneis”. Said my teacher Mrs Nua as we were getting ready to go to Tennis. “ I’m so excited about teneis”. I said to my friend Jane. She wasn’t so sure if she wanted to play, she was a bit scared.
As we went to the court yard there was another class that had just finished tennis. He introduced himself. We got on with learning the first thing, how to hold a racket the proper way. You had to put the racket on the ground and you put your hand on the top of the racket and make sure your thumb is on the top. That was easy. The next thing we learnt was bouncing the ball on the racket, that was kind of easy but lots of us couldn’t do it, it was like raining balls.
“STOP”!!! Said our coach. I was hoping that we would be playing the actual game of tennis but I was wrong. We were now on to another activity were we had to partner up in groups of twos.
One of us had to hold the racket which was me, and Jane ( my partner ) had to throw the ball to the ground and it would bounce to me and I had to hit it back to Jane. The first few times I couldn’t do it. But we did it once.
When we had finished our little activity our coach put us into groups of six to get ready to play a game of kings and Queens of the court. This is how the game goes: One person from the group has to stand on the other side of the net, the rest stay where there are. The group lines up and one person hits the ball to the other side if that goes out the person who hit goes to the back, but if the other person hits it back and it goes out they lose and they come and line up and the winner goes. So on and on.
I had so much fun learning to play tennis and I
hope I learn some more tricks and games.

Badminton lessons
The first thing we got on with were learning the basic skills about badminton. The first skill we learnt was how to hold the racket. Put the racket in your hand and make sure you hold it the right way. When you hold the shuttle, make sure you have the round bit at the bottom and the open bit at the top. So then you hit to your partner.
We then had a warm up exercise. We had to partner up with a buddy and get a shuttle and our partner had to hit to us and we had to put the racket in between our legs and hit it the shuttle to our partner, they had to do the same thing. It was quiet fun doing it but it was really hard.
Our skills were put to a game of badminton. It was really simple and easy. I was really exited about playing the actual game. I got a few hits, and I was really happy.
Badminton was really fun and it was really fun learning
all the skills. Next time we play Badminton I hope pick up some more skills on the way

Fun day
Mrs Nua explained to us how the game goes. Each group had a bucket with water in it a sponge and another bucket at the end of each group. What we had to do was the person in front had to put the sponge in the water and pass it to the person behind them around and that person had to pass under and so on, then the last person would run to the bucket away from them and squeeze the watery sponge. The group that can fill the bucket as much as they can are the winners.
When we finished the game we got on with the next game. This game included a slingshot and some balls. We had to put the ball into the slingshot and shoot it into one of the hoops on the field. It was quite a fun game for me, I did my best I could and I nearly got a shot but it went out.
The next game we did was a bit hard and really funny. We had to partner up with a buddy, stand together side by side, each of has to put (one leg ) together and tie a string around it. Then one of us hold a spoon with a ball on it, we race to the finish line with out falling down then race back to the start. This was a really hard game for but also was really funny.
Once this silly games session was over we were all tired. I had a great time playing all those fun activity’s and I hope we do this kind of thing again.

Fatu Feu'u art project

Every Wednesdays Miss M comes and does art with us. This term we are learning about two famous artists called Fatu Feu’u who is Samoan and Phillip Clairmont. We have been researching about their art and how they inspire other people. Room 20 have also been sketching some designs with Mrs M in the style of Fatu Feu’u , and we have practicing sketching the scared couch by Phillip Clairmont.
We were given a paper and there were four squares on the paper and we had to draw four designs in the style of Fatu Feu’u. Out of all the four designs we had to choose one pattern and draw it bigger, some of us just four designs and got it laminated. Once they were laminated we used wood cut knifes to cut out little pieces, then we stuck them on to canvas.
It was finally time to roll paint our designs and some of us were helping Miss M with roll paint and spray paint ,I was helping with sticking the designs on to the canvas. Mrs M called us outside to show us an example, she was rolling it first then she thought of spraying it over ,she sprayed it over with the colour green. Once it was finished it really looked nice and colourful, it also stood out.

How computers got popular?

Computers have been so popular since 1975 till now.Did you know that early computers were people, will if you don’t now’s your time to find out.Early days computer was a originally a job tittle for women when they were working. In the early days women were always busy counting and doing a lot of mathematics and it was a very monotonous job.
At first people used their fingers for maths which explains why our number system is based on ten, some people used to scratch marks on trees to remember. Traders exchanged small pebbles to help them count the thing s they were trading. Then the abacus came out and it was used for counting and remembering the amount, the abacus was used for centuries.
Computers are now so popular around the whole world that it keeps making me wonder why are they so popular? I found out they are so popular because you can email or video chat your friends even if they are over seas. You can talk to family that are far away from you on skype. Computers are also popular because they also can help you learn, if you are doing a presentation on something you could always go to the Internet to find some information

Netball
“Yeah” I said. Room 20 were finally having some time out on our work and going outside and having a bit of p.e (netball). When we got a bit closer I noticed a lady standing there with a bag of balls. We then sat down and the lady introduced herself to us and her name was Emma our netball coach. Emma was here to teach us netball skills and how to play netball the proper way.
The first thing we were taught was throwing the ball properly. The first skill Emma told us was to hold the ball in a ‘W’ way and it didn’t matter if your fingers were touching or not touching, she also told us to make sure the was ball thrown from your chest long and strong.
Our final session was playing a game of netball!!! We were spilt into two teams. Half wore bibs and the other half didn’t. I was in the one that didn’t wear bibs. Finally the time came where we put our skills to the test and started our game. It was fun running around and trying to shoot the ball in the hoop. Our team got a few goals but I didn’t quite figure out who won.
I had so much fun learning how to play netball and I hope Emma will teach us some more skills and new games to play.
